Jaci was built around one rule: your health data belongs to you, and only you. This policy explains, plainly, what the app stores and what it never does.

1What stays on your device#
Your name, health profile (menopause stage, last period date, cycle length, HRT, lifestyle habits) and every symptom you log are stored in a local database on your phone. There is no account to create and no server that receives this information — Jaci has no backend of its own, and nothing you log leaves your device unless you send it yourself. What the app does send is technical diagnostics about itself, which contain none of your entries and are explained in full in section 4.
2What we collect#
Only what you choose to enter: your name, optional email and birth date, your health profile, and your daily symptom logs. We don't collect GPS, your contacts, or any health data you haven't typed in yourself. Separately, and with no link to any of that, the app collects technical diagnostics about how it is running — speed, failures, and the state of the phone at the time — tied to a random number generated at install time rather than to you. That includes your country, inferred from your IP address. Section 4 lists all of it.
3Permissions we ask for#
Notifications, to schedule your daily reminder and weekly recap locally on your device. Camera and Photos, only if you choose to set a profile picture — the image is processed and stored on your device and never uploaded anywhere.
4When data leaves your device#
In three situations. The first is when you choose to export or back up your data — for example, sharing a clinical report with your doctor, or saving a backup file. Every export shows a confirmation step first, and you decide where the file goes (email, messaging app, cloud drive). The second is if your phone's system backups are turned on (Google on Android, iCloud on iOS): the operating system itself includes Jaci's data in your personal backup, just as it does for other apps. That backup lives in your Google or Apple account, subject to those companies' privacy policies, and Jaci has no access to it. You can turn these backups off in your system settings. The third is technical diagnostics: the app sends EAS Observe, a service run by Expo — the company whose tools we build Jaci with, and which handles this data on our behalf — information about its own technical health. The full list of what each record carries: app startup timings; the platform, device model, OS version, app version and build number; your country, inferred from the IP address the app connects from, with no street, city or GPS; the battery level and whether it is charging; the phone's thermal state and whether it is in low-power mode; the connection type (wifi or mobile data); and, if the app crashes, that crash report. We do not send the names of the screens you visit, nor the errors the app handles on its own. Each installation gets a random number that links sessions from the same phone together; it is not your name or your email, it does not identify you, and it is replaced if you uninstall and reinstall the app. None of what you log — symptoms, notes, health profile, cycle dates — is included in these reports. When you are offline they stay on your phone and are only sent once the app goes to the background. Expo keeps them for a minimum of 60 days. Their only purpose is to tell us whether the app is slow or crashing on real phones, so we can fix it.
5What we don't do#
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing your data with third parties for commercial purposes, and no cloud sync of your health data run by Jaci. We use no behavioural analytics SDKs: we don't build a profile of you, we don't record what you type or tap, and nothing you log feeds advertising or recommendations. The technical diagnostics in section 4 measure the app's speed and failures, not your habits.
6Deleting your data#
You can erase everything from inside the app at any time, or simply uninstall it — Jaci keeps none of your health data on any server, so there is nothing for you to ask us to delete. If you use system backups, earlier copies of your data may remain in your Google or iCloud account until a newer backup replaces them or you delete them in that account's settings, and reinstalling the app may restore them automatically. Any files you exported stay wherever you saved them. The diagnostics in section 4 are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you, so we cannot single them out to delete; uninstalling the app stops new ones and retires the installation's number.
7Children's privacy#
Jaci is designed for adults navigating perimenopause and menopause, and is not directed at children.
8Changes to this policy#
If this policy changes, the update will ship inside the app with a new date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
9Contact#
